ALBA BERLIN the most successful German basketball team within the last 10 years. In June 2008 the team, which was founded in 1989, won its eighth league title. Furthermore, ALBA BERLIN succeeded five times in the BBL cup and won the pan European Korac Cup in 1995.

In the 2011/12 season, ALBA wants to bring the German League Title back to Berlin and is also seeking for international success in the Basketball Eurocup. In contrast to last season the team was changed significantly. Important players such as Julius Jenkins and Immanuel McElroy left the team. However, players such as last season's league MVP DaShaun Wood, former NBA player Kyle Weaver, Torin Francis and Marko Simonovic joined ALBA BERLIN for the new season.
